Ever since I saw Karli dance, I’ve been dying to take her photo. We finally got a chance to try  a few ideas tonight and they came out AWESOME!! She did such an great job posing and she looks so beautiful! I had a million ideas going through my head.  I was so excited to try a couple of off camera flash techniques. Take a look! We’d love to hear what you think. A big thanks to her mom for helping me with the lighting and having some great ideas!

Grace Rocks!

19Aug09

I’m sure many of you in town have heard that sweet dear  Grace Strum has been at Westchester Medical for a month now after having  had  a tumor removed from her  brain.  It’s been a parent’s and child’s worse nightmare. All that know her and many that have never met her  have been praying everyday for her recovery. Her parents have been keeping us all close with their daily posts on Grace Rock’s care page http://www.carepages.com/carepages/GraceRocks Please join in and help pray for her recovery! Thank You! We love you Gracie!! YOU ROCK!!

I took these photos a few years back when I was first starting out and Grace posed for me.

Almost there!

14Aug09

Thank you all for helping out and leaving your comments!!  Almost there!!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to photograph my friend’s son for his senior photos. As you can just imagine, it is probably the last thing a 17  year old guy wants to do when he has some free time! I promised him that we’d try to get some images that he liked too….not just Mom.  He was a good sport and politely humored me at the beginning  but I think by the end of the session he didn’t mind so much. He’s a great guy and will surely have a lot of opportunities that will come his way!  The session was a success and  I think he looks awesome  in all of them!!! It’ll be difficult to choose!  If Mom can get 15 people to leave a comment  and tell us which one is their favorite, she’ll receive a complimentary 8×10!  Come on seniors – step up to the plate and book your session today!

Dakota with Tie_0438 BW Warm

I’ve been dying to take a few photos with Dakota in a black and white polka dot tie that I  found and thought would be perfect on her!! (even though she’s a girl) Of course I couldn’t get anyone in my family to help me keep her attention while I focused and got my exposure! I really need to find someone who likes working with dogs to help me now and then. Any volunteers???  Don’t know how I manage to get a few shots …take off the collar, put on the tie, hold the camera (DON”T drop that), get treats out of my pocket, ditch the leash, have her sit and stay and…. PRAY she doesn’t see another dog and bolt…..oh yeah and ….SMILE DAKOTA!!  Piece a’ cake!

My second love to photographing people and pets are still lifes. After many years of “HINTING” (19 to be exact!!), my husband came home last week with roses for me for no reason! Yup! Can’t believe it wasn’t my anniversary, birthday or Vanlentines Day.  It made my day!! I guess that makes up for all the ones he’s missed :( this passed year. So I can enjoy them for many more days and years…I’ve been photographing them! Maybe I’ll make up some note cards too. A thanks to Dom’s Garden Center in Danbury, CT….they sell TWO DOZEN roses for $14.99!!   Makes a women very happy! Here’s three different versions of a “Rose in a Bottle”. Which one so you like?

A few weeks back, I had the honor of photographing the Westchester Ballet Company Annual Spring Gala on the terrace of Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, NY. It was their annual fundraiser which allows them to provide another year of  ballet instruction and fund their annual Nutcracker production. This year the guest of honor was Kristina Lindbergh, who has served on the board for WBC for 13 years and was president of the board for 7 years. It was my first time meeting Kristina and it was very evident that she was an important part of this ballet company in both it’s function and in her friendships. If you haven’t seen the WBC perform you’re missing out!!  What an exquisite performance by all the dancers!! It was a breathtaking evening with the talented dancers performing on the grounds of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club overlooking the Hudson river! Take a look. You’ll definitely want to put this on your calendar for next year!

Meet Lily

09Jul09

I  want you to meet little Lily. Lily is my Aunt’s dog –  a little toy poodle with a big personality!  We just adore her! She can’t weigh much more that 3 lbs….can you imagine??? ….and as tiny as she is, she is not at all afraid of my black lab mix  (Dakota) who is a solid 60-65 lbs. Maybe Dakota isn’t the biggest dog but she is certainly huge to Lily!!  She loves to tease Dakota and pull toys from her and run to places where Dakota cant’ fit! It’s pretty comical. So …meet Lily..she looks so innocent doesn’t she??

It’s so nice to hear that there are still girls who request gifts with a personal meaning. “J” wanted a photograph taken with her dogs for her graduation gift!! I was so flattered that “J” and her Mom chose me to to take the photos! Molly and Max were full of life and adorable to work with. I enjoyed capturing the love between a girl and her dogs. I experimented using some textures with the black and white photos and loved the way they came out! What do you think??
