I thought I’d share my new love with you – food photography. If you’ve visited my 365 project you’ve notice a lot of food shots. I’ve really grown to love preparing and taking them. Tonight I was making stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. It was a perfect opportunity to take a few shots. Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and as always, there is so much to be thankful for!
Check it out – order one for yourself and some for your holiday gift list!!
It’s time once again for the 2010 Housatonic Valley Cultural Alliance (HVCA) Juried Art Exhibit at the Danbury Fair Mall. If you haven’t been you need to stop by this year and see all the awesome art work! All mediums are displayed and for sale including Photography. My image “Onion” was accepted and is on display from September 10th – 22nd center court. I’m thrilled to be a part of the exhibit again this year!!
The thing I love about photography is that there is always something to learn. I still get sooooo excited to learn something new! Last week I attended a seminar at B & H presented by Neil van Niekerk a fabulous wedding and portrait photographer who has mastered the craft of on camera flash. I know what your thinking…and it’s not your average on camera flash. He created gorgeous directional lighting for his portraits without all these fancy lights and gear. I decide to try it on some of my food photography that I shot the other evening for my 365 project and I was very pleased with the results. What do you think? I did use a small reflector to fill in the shadow a bit. Check out Neil’s work on his blog Tangets.
I had a great senior session the other day with the sweetest girl! You know how you can just tell when someone is a great person. She coaches girls basketball and has three colleges in mind. We took a ride up to Kent Falls and stopped along the way to get a variety of shots. I just LOVE the ones we took of her with her book!! It even matched her color scheme. She did and awesome job picking out outfits for the session! Can’t wait to show her all of her images but for now here’s a few. If you visit please leave a comment and help her to get a complimentary 5×7!
If you are interested in a casual senior session, please contact me to reserve your date!
We squeezed in a few of her adorable sister!
I’m more than half way through my 365 project!!! For those of you who don’t know..Jan 1, 2009 I committed to taking a photo a day for a year. It’s a great excercise in discipline and breaking out of your comfort zone. For me that’s taking something other than portraits. I wanted to learn more about product and still life photography and also master my off camera flash. Well so far this project has been well worth it!! Not only have I improved my photography but I developed flckr friend and support from around the world. It really is so amazing! In the process, I’ve also discovered that I love food photography. I’ve posted a few images but please visit my flickr stream (link below) and see the 202 photos (as of today) that I’ve taken. I post everyday so if you enjoy looking at photos and are curious as to what I’ll shoot next….stop by!! If you don’t have a flickr account I also post them to Facebook where I’d be thrilled if you left a comment. Send me some ideas of what you’d like to see!!
Enjoy your day!!
